Good value at Taipei Crazy HouseIn 19th September 2014 Out 22nd September 2014 This small boutique hotel is in the Ximen district and very near the underground station with shops and restaurants. This hotel, you booked on-line pay a deposit and the balance when you check in. When you check out just leave the keys in the room. There is no coffee shop in this hotel but restaurants are in plenty in this area. They provide you with washing machines for your laundry at no extra charges. However, you have to pay for the dryer, The rooms are clean and they will come to change your towels every day. A small fridge is also provided in the room. Wifi are free as well. I would not hesitate to stay in this hotel should I ever visited Taipei again and the rates are reasonable. e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org http://taipeiyork.funtaiwanclub.com Please note the name of this hotel is Taipei Crazy House and not Taipei House International Youth Hostel. Thank you for your attention.
Not worth the valueWe stayed here for the first night we arrived to Taipei and we didn't enjoyed our stay. The place was clean enough but it was noisy because of a group of boys living next to us. Toilet in the corridor which was bit strange and room was small and bed was cardboard like. No towels etc so we have to buy some. And after all this the price is not cheap. 2280ntd for 3pax.As we managed to find hotels that are a million time better for 500ntd more, equavelent to the price of the towel we bought for per person. Ad the worst thing about this place is that we have to come through the back entrance after 9.45pm because the main door to building is locked. And that back alley and back gate is absolutely disgusting, swamps of roaches at the gate. I have to be carried in by my husband because I was completely losing it!!
Not bad but could be better! We reserved a family room recently and the manager Sophia was very helpful and knowledgeable. However, for almost $100 a night, we had to use the bathrooms in the hallway and no towels were provided. In addition, the hostel could be noisy when large groups come so it was a decent place to stay in a nice little neighborhood with small shops and restaurants.

Terrible place to stayThe solo owner, Sophia, severely lacking minimum Tender, Love and Care to traveler.
Friendly PlacePros: - Sophia, the owner, is very friendly and helpful. She also offers free travel advice for getting around Taipei city from the hostel. - Free internet access, if you have your own laptop. - 2 TVs in the 2 common areas - Dorm rooms are a good value - lockers available - hot water - rooms are clean and well taken care of - variety of room styles to suit a multitude of travelers Cons: - if you don't have a hostel membership, the rate is more expensive. - the private rooms are not a great value, because you can pay just a few hundred more NT to stay in a hotel with many more amenities. - bathrooms are shared. - the blankets, though clean, are old and a little musty. My allergies act up if they get too near my face. - inconvenient to MRT Bottom line: As far as hostels go, this one is clean, safe, and really well-run. However, it is also more expensive than the typical hostel, while offering fewer amenities than a budget hotel. It is a great place for solo travelers wanting some peace of mind without blowing their budget. Couples or families, however, might want to look somewhere else.
