    Good value. Nice staff.

Spent three nights at Crystal Hotel in Taipei. Good value, really friendly staff. The hotel is located a short walk from Wanhua station and Longshan station where you can take the train where ever you need to go. Hotel room was amazingly quiet albeit being next to a quite busy street. Simple breakfast is served with fresh coffee, that's all a traveler needs.

Crystal Hotel - Taipei: Quite Reasonable

Arrived in Taipei having booked a guest house, but this turned out to be a total disaster. Booked at the Crystal which for two males in two different rooms was quite reasonable for the two nights. Reception. Reception welcoming and helpful. Cost. AUD$87.50 per night, but this was over the Taiwan Nation holiday period, which we were unaware of and with limited accommodation available. Room. OK. Bathroom - Shower /bath for those people under about 170cm would be very difficult to get into and a slip hazard getting out. Access. Elevator to all rooms. Breakfast. An extra NT120 for breakfast which was reasonable. Other. Some walk from the underground trains, therefore anyone with baggage is either reasonable fit or need a taxi. This is not 3-5 star and my wife would not be content, but ok for people who are happy to put up for the night or two.

    Sleek and Old

The hotel is small and old. When we enter the room it smells mildew and looks old although the beddings are clean and the toilet is clean but without lock. It is run and managed by middle and old aged ladies..including the preparation of the breakfast which consists of very few choices. The location is quite good and the price is a little high considering of its total comfort given to guests. Should try renovating and upgrading its services. Over all its ok.

    Totally dirty and disgusting

Disgusting, loud, full of mosquitos and very smelly. Room had a horrible sour mold smell. Lots of noise and TONS of insects because the windows don’t close fully. No hotel can 100% prevent mosquitos but this one doesn’t even try - no screens and the windows left open because they have a huge mold/water damage problem. Big gap between floor and door means you hear everything outside the room. hot water on 8th floor not working. Stains all over the walls, ceiling, and floor. Simply the nastiest hotel room I’ve ever stayed in. Far from subway as well. Staff were helpful, but ultimately the place is too disgusting to be worth it.

Not that bad but can find better

If you really don't need to stay in Wanhua District I think you can find some better place in Xiamen area. The hotel is a bit outdated and not that cheap for the service that provide, also is not really close to the MRT station. The staff was nice and professional but not all of them could speak English.
