    Good location. Needs updating.

The hotel, including the room, is a bit old. Rooms still use regular keys which you have to leave at the counter when you go out. Staff needs further training in English. Location is the best. I love this area near Taipei Main Station. Add free breakfast and I would rate it higher!

We were back for our fourth stay at the Hotel Flowers in August. There seems to be certain changes since our last time there that's why I am writing this update. This hotel is now called "Hotel Flora" and I was told that it has been acquired by a Japanese company. We booked our favorite room again on the 8th floor of the new wings for the three of us for six nights (husband had a conference to attend). It just felt like coming home to our familiar territories. The staff at the reception desk seemed to be younger and even more friendlier. Breakfast is now served at the basement, buffet style, with freshly made dishes. No more coupons for Dante or 7-11. The reception desk also helped us make reservations on a one-day tour of Jiufeng, Yehliu, etc. which was quite a deal. We also found out that the subway station that is at the 228 Peace Park (NTU Hospital Station) on Gongyuen Road is a closer walk than going to the main train station from the hotel. Just walk down Huaining Street, then walk through 228 Peace Park towards NTU Hospital (check google map). There are escalators going up and down the station.

    Convenient location and friendly staff

Staff were very very friendly, and always willing to help. I got a corner room, with an extra bed. This made the room a little cramped for three of us. Television was rather fuzzy too, but we did not watch it much so it wasn't a great problem. The beds are not exactly the most comfortable hotel beds I've ever slept on but I guess it is still alright. The room was not very clean, though fresh sets of towels and water are provided. I've also noticed that we can look at other Taiwanese families once we drew the curtains. Not much of a view, really. However, one thing that really struck me was the service. The staff are indeed very nice and understanding. Before we left every morning, we left a short note in traditional chinese, asking them to recycle our used plastic bottles and they did! The next morning, the cleaner staff smiled and thanked us too. Overall, a good hotel for travellers to stay at if you are on budget. Also, its near the train stations and other eateries.

Great location close to Taipei Main train station!

Very close to Taipei Main train station and subway line. Walkable to Ximending for shopping and late night eating. Two blocks away from the 228 Peace Park and museum and Presidential Palace. Our family was traveling as a large group, and we needed four rooms. For this location, the price was very good. The hotel is old and faded but clean and comfortable. Breakfast is via coupons redeemed at 7-11, Dante Coffee, or Bread First. We stayed four days at the Annex Building (newer section, but still old), then returned and stayed two days in the main location. Our family suite on Floor 10 of the main location was large, spacious. The other rooms were very basic. No common room or lobby to hang out. The Annex is a little cheaper, and I did not notice much difference otherwise. Overall, good, safe, clean rooms in a great location. Not fancy, but good for you if you will be spending most of your time sightseeing and out of the room.

    Meh. Okay. Good price.

By far not the cleanest hotel I've stayed in. Piles of dust in corners of room. Bed was not exactly comfortable but was very clean. One tiny elevator. Really, the place was just fine, and it's the only place I've stayed in Taipei, so I don't have much to compare, but it would definitely have been 2-star by US standards. Decent amenities and breakfast was included, so the price was good (approx. $75US/night).
