LuxuriousMiramar Garden Hotel, central Taipei is the perfect hotel to stay. It may be pricy at approx $200 AUD a night, but it’s worth it. You’re met with impeccable service from start to finish. As you arrive the bell staff take your bags from the car, the lovely lady lifting our huge suitcases! We arrived early but the let us check in and leave our bags. The front desk staff are delightful and do their best to accomodate our needs. The exterior looks heritage and something out of England. The foyer area is sophisticated with floor to ceiling marble, royal looking lounge chairs and a lobby cafe with patisserie goods. We return later and head up to our large room, with a huge bed and sweeping views. The room has a desk, mini bar, fridge, kettle and free drinking water, tea and coffee. A huge bathroom with rain water shower head, bath, free toiletries and it all feels very luxurious. Room service was fast and if you’re preferring to eat at the restaurant, there’s one on the ground floor. There’s to an outdoor pool, suitable to do laps in, but don’t forget your cap! Located at the pool is a poolside cafe where you can grab a tea, coffee, hard drink or light lunch. There’s a gymnasium/health club with good quality and quantity of equipment. The most amazing thing was their sauna and spa area. It’s like a Japanese onsen. You wash and then soak naked, have a sauna or steam room and then use their amenities room to blow dry your hair, use products etc. This was incredible. They even allowed us to use this after check out. We thoroughly recommend this hotel. It’s no wonder this is 5 star hotel and deservedly received a Michelin in 2018.

Great One-Night StayConsidering the fact that I have a long connection in Taiwan, as opposed to staying near the airport vicinity, I wanted to stay in downtown Taipei, hoping to catch a glimpse of this historic city. And without doubt, Miramar Garden Taipei did not disappoint me. For starters, while I've seen some reviews that the check-in staff is 'unpleasant' and 'abrupt', I consider myself lucky not to get the type of staff described in other travelers' posts. This said, in my case, the staff was very friendly. Also, it is important to bear in mind the fact that many Taiwanese are very shy and not necessarily rude (I learned this after living in mainland China for more than six months), and many of them do not speak proper English. Therefore, as a result, this makes them appear as rude but they aren't necessarily that. Regarding the hotel, considering I was only here for a night, the highlight of my trip was the famous Taiwanese beef noodle soup, which was just about perfect--not too spicy, not too salty, but perfect. Ultimately, If you feel like walking, I would also add that this hotel has a great location with a lot of restaurants on the spot.
OVERALL POOR SERVICECheck in staff unpleasant & abrupt, was told luggage would be taken to my room, it was not so 3 hours after check in I took it myself, no offer of assistance. Pool staff rude & provide wrong information. Not the best location, not handy to MRT

Nice and clean roomThe hotel won the Michelin in 2018, the room is nice and clean, just that it’s a bit too quiet around. One of the closest mall is Breeze, about 10 mins walk from the hotel. If you are expecting a hotel with restaurants and shops around, Miramar may not be your choice.

winter break to TaipeiSpent 7 nights in this lovely hotel. received a warm greeting with concierge assisting with our baggage. Check in was smooth and was very helpful in directing us where our room was. The room wasn't particularly large for two persons but big enough we didn't feel cramped. In terms of storage there wasn't really much. Enough really for one person...jst. I kept all my clothes in my baggage. And what is with Asian hotels they don't have many hangers, I counted 6 really come on they not that expensive. The bath room was amazing. rain shower head and auto toilet seat didn't expect to see them here thought that was a Japan thing, brilliant. Had a good chuckle, beware instruction is in Chinese so play about with it ;-) or call the front desk :0. Views from the room isn't particularly great if we squint we can see the 101 tower. Gym was well equipped and clean with the staff regularly visiting to check if everything was ok which is always good. Well air conned as well. Opposite the Gym was the cafe/restaurant and the pool. Don't know why there is a pool there apart from maybe wanting to exercise in it as it doesn't get any sun at all. I visited a few times when he had decent weather but its located badly such that it is always in ten shade. Maybe gets sun later much later in the year. Did not use the spa as I dint find it despite the staff saying it was down the hall, opened the doors ... nope wasn't there. The location of the hotel was pretty good, 10 minutes walk to shopping malls and MTR and about 5 mins walk from the nearest eateries and bars around the area.
