Comfortable hotel in good locationRather quaint hotel, with an older style of interior decor. The rooms themselves are comfortable and well fitted out, with modern appliances. Request for a view towards the nearby park, as the rear view towards the back road isn’t very nice. The restaurant offers simple but tasty dishes for lunch and dinner. The breakfast offering could be improved, though.
This is a great little hotel! This is a great little hotel! It is a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, but not overly expensive to stay here. The welcome at the kerbside and at the reception desk is professional, efficient, and genuinely warm. Good English is spoken (for those of us not fluent in any Asian languages!). The location is good; it's a short walk to the local subway system, and the hotel is close to a variety of eating places. The room we stayed in was a Parkview Room. There is a reasonable amount of space and the room overlooked the small park on the other side of the street giving open views of the city. The bed was lovely and comfortable, housekeeping was excellent, and the shower was great. The room highlight though must be the Japanese-style sunken tub which is perfect for relaxing in after a busy day out and about. And last, but not least, the generous breakfast offerings (Oriental & Western) will set you up perfectly for the new day.

Great Boutique HotelThe room was nice, the service was great (really nice and attentive and speak English well), and the area was nice and easy to get around from. This is a great boutique hotel for a good price; I'd definitely go back.
Totally Happy! The moment we sat into the car that was arranged by hotel, we knew everything was gonna be smooth-sailing. Not only the car was clean & spacious, the driver actually shared with us how to commute to the Arena & the bus stops to go to for the buses to many places. It was so convenient. When we arrived at the front of the hotel, which was located along a ‘happening’ street, the staff quickly ran out & helped with the luggage. He was so courteous & full of smiles. The door was opened for us by another staff. The front desk staff stood attentively to serve us. The lady executive helped me with the check-in procedure...we arrived early, our room wasn’t ready till about 30mins+ later. As we had to rush off in 15minutes time to meet the rest of the team mates who stayed at the event organizer’s venue near the Arena, we needed a room to freshen up. Our designated room was according to what I had initially requested via Expedia...on high floor (12th supposedly was allocated for us) with a view! We got to let it go...she felt sorry that we couldn’t check-in much earlier to our desired room & asked again if 7th floor was fine. We just decided so, took the card keys & moved off. She walked us to the lift, showed us the waiting area where snacks & beverage was free for guests at anytime, then brought us up to our room. As we had not much time left, we told her she wasn’t required to introduce the room amenities to us which she supposed to...she obliged. I felt I was a bit abrupt, sorry about this. The room was park-facing. The corridor was quiet. Our room was big, very comfortable & quiet, amenities were complete, big wardrobe, lots of drawer space, lights control panel at bedside. A fruit basket & some biscuits welcomed us. Even the flatscreen TV had our names on it when we switched it on. Bathroom was excellent! There was a bricked, squarish soak tub for 1-2 pax (skinny folks) to sit & salt-soak in there, a standing shower (shower tap & rain shower), an automated Japanese toilet seat/warmer/auto cover up & down & auto flush etc etc. Very advanced! All using a touch panel! Good quality & elegant toiletries...which they do sell at lobby area. Twin-beds were of good size, very comfortable, though my son did feedback that the linen sheets was a bit too ‘washed & rough’. The lamp shades at our beds were dusty. The rest were perfectly all right. Just small issues. Breakfast was simple, very Japanese, very healthy salads & porridge. All service staff in San Want spoke fluent Japanese. Most patrons were Japanese. Everyone was polite & had full of greetings. Ambience of hotel was elegant, antiques everywhere, at the right place - be it portraits or figurines or art pieces, very apt for everywhere. No lacking of taxis, front desk used headsets to alert concierge (they took turns to man the doors)...that taxis were needed. Within seconds, they appeared. It was really easy to take a taxi at the entrance, at times, taxis were already queuing outside. There were so many eateries along the streets, left of San Want Residences has more...McDonald’s, Korean food, Japanese Ramen (in which we patronized), Western food, Chinese noodles. There are many cosmetic shops, fashion wear as well as tea & beauty products. On the right there was a noodle place which opened later, we didn’t try. To the Arena, it took less than 10mins without traffic jams. Returning, it could be a bit longer as a U-turn was required at the traffic junction. The gym was located at basement level. Small room with sufficient equipment. A wall-mounted TV could be switched on when you do treadmill. Outside the gym, there was a well-decorated seating area, for meetings I supposed. We travelled by taxis to the famous Chia Te Bakery (same stretch as the Arena) to buy some biscuits. Also to Sogo at Fuxing to eat at the foodcourt. Very convenient indeed. Taxi drivers we met were very polite. A day before we checked out, the staff checked with us if we would like to arrange for airport pick up. Very efficient. They even granted us a late checkout as our flight departure was in the late afternoon. It was a very pleasant stay for us. Definitely wouldn’t mind at all to stay at San Want if we visit Taipei again. I truly recommend it for business or family travelers.
The Best Hotel Stay Ever!My family and I had a wonderful two-night (26-28/7/19) stay at San Want Residences. This hotel is full of charm - both the building and the people alike. We loved the room and the bathroom with deep sunken japanese bathub. Very clean and the decor in keeping with the hotel. There are eateries and convenience stores down the street. There is automated mechanical carpark within the hotel coumpound too. The hotel does not provide accommodation to children under the age of 12 or tour group. The staffs are extremely attentive and helpful. Special thanks to Nelly, Elie, Vicky, and Toshi in assisting me to arrange a birthday surprise cake for my husband on his birthday. They contacted me promptly after i write in the request via email. Everything went perfectly! We also would like to express our gratitude to all the staffs that have attended to us during our stay. This is one of the best hotel ever! We would definitely return to San Want Residences if we were to visit Taipei again! Jill Cheong
