BL Bannan Line Taipei City Hall
Pekín (Beijing), China
One of the best hotel in TaipeiThe hotel location is great and easy to find. I took the (捷运) to the Taipei Railway Station and transferred to taipei Metro the Bannan or Blue line (code BL) to Taipei City Hall. The hotel is just a few steps away right in the corner. You will see several big shopping malls and clubs around the hotel. Restaurants, Bookstores, Banks, Business Buildings are all in walking distance range. This hotel stands in the center of the high end community of taipei. I was offer the corner room on 17th floor. To be honest, I didn't expect the view，the size and the decoration of of the room far beyond my expectation. Though it costs about 10000NT$ a night, I think it well worth the price since the service of every staff in this W is top notch among same level Marriot managed hotels. Every needs were seriously taken care of. The staff was very attentive and always in natural smile. I enjoyed my two nights stay here very much. Note: The Taxi fare to Taoyuan International Airport costs around 1300-1500 NT$. Taxi will save you a lot of time to the airport because it really took me a lot of effort to find to way to Bannan Line Taipei railway station and I didn't want to do that again on my way back.
Tasty food and excellent cocktails but no service and filthyWe enjoyed our afternoon tea at the yen bar. Food was quirky and tasty and spectacular cocktails with tea elements. But there were few things I’d like to suggest. Service When we were there, we were the only group of customers, when the staff brought the tea set there were no introduction what so ever, I mean they looked great but come on, at least some brief introduction? Perhaps, the staff should focus more on customer rather than gathering at the entrance and chatting away. Tea pot and clean issue The metal tea pot ? (Serious for afternoon tea ?) and please refer to the photo with the tea pot lid. We didn’t drink the tea at all because of the clean issue of the tea pot. Over all, great food and drinks but no service and dirty tea pots.
Experience not good anymore....I had stayed at this hotel many times and enjoyed our stays in the past. But sadly this one-week stay was the worst experience we ever had. 1. The bed is old and soft. For the room we were staying, the surface of of the mattress is not leveled. It's an obvious sign of bed aging. It made our sleep uncomfortable. Cannot believe this is happening to a 5 star hotel. Talked to other people staying in the hotel, they had the same problems so it's not just our room. 2. The swimming pool has become a second-hand smoking pool. There's a smoking area right next to the pool. An there are a lot of smokers in the hotel. At one evening, there were about 20 smokers around the pool for the event. I couldn't swim without inhaling a lot of second hand smoke. Swimming is supposed to be a healthy and pleasant experience. The placement of the smoking area totally ruined the experience. 3. Women's spa is noisy with local people. I used to love this hotel's spa and that's the main reason we chose this hotel. But I found that around 5-7pm everyday, there are local people gathering in the Women's spa and use very loud voice to chat. They totally ignore other guests' presence and took over the whole spa. No more pleasant experience in the spa! This hotel has good location and friendly staff in general. I used to look forward to the stays and call it my home in Taipei. But it's a shame that there are many key areas need improvement now. I won't return to this hotel unless there's obvious improvement.
Noise, more noise ...In itself, this is a pretty good hotel. I like the guest rooms (I've stayed here twice) which are large and have nice bathroom with bathtub and separate walk-in shower. The desk chair is much too low, but other than that a thumbs-up for the rooms. What spoils the fun, though, is the ever-present noise that will harress you once you leave your room: in the restaurant, the bar, the corridors, the elevators, the lobby and even at the pool there's a continuous beat some people might label as "music". I travel because I have work to do, and both the travel and the work can drain my energy, so when I'm done, I need the rest. Maybe I'm getting too old for this kind of place. Other than the "music" the pool is quite nice, though. Be careful when you do your laps because right underneath the surface the stairs are hiding, and as the lighting is poor you are likely to crash into them when doing a late-night swim.

An Amazing Experience! This hotel is a must-stay/must-visit for a great stay in Taipei for events in late October. The staff is super helpful, the rooms, pool, gym, and spa are beautifully maintained. The rooftop restaurant, breakfast, and late-night bar staff raise the experience level to something unique and wonderful! This was my third stay here; it won't be my last!
