    Good Price, Bad Experience

As usual, my wife and I got a discount deal for staying during the weekend at Taipei - our first time at FX Hotel. Upon arrival, it felt quite odd that reception was a small desk located inside the restaurant (apparently they are not using the big reception fronk desk right outside the restaurant - although I could not see anything wrong with it). Now, the stay was relatively acceptable but I do have more complaints than compliments. Here are my top 3: 1. They need to change/wash their bed sheets and pillow case; they either have a bunch of holes or they get your skin all itchy and at the worse give you some pimples (I got some around my neck). 2. They need to upgrade their hardware, I mean which modern level hotel doesn't have USB plugs? I had to give a 200 NTD deposit and pick up a plug myself from front desk. 3. Although I do respect each hotel's policy, this is the first time I got denied a late check-out, which in my experience, it's an one hour allowance (they did offer me the opportunity to extend my stay one more hour from 12 to 1 pm for 500 NTD - which I did not accept). Their reason was "it's weekend", it was Sunday and from the logical point of view tourist hotels do not have peak days from Sunday to Thursday. So overall the stay was acceptable but I ended with a bad experience.

    Super Taipei stay!

Our first trip to Taiwan and we were a little worried in case this FX hotel was different to its website brochure - we had no need to be worried the hotel met and exceeded our expectations! The room was clean and comfortable with an excellent ensuite bathroom well stocked with essentials. A refrigerator was handy to chill drinks (complimentary bottled water provided daily). Located within a 5 minute walk of the super efficient metro system it made for easy access to all that Taipei has to offer. The hotel staff were pleasant and helpful almost all spoke English (Bonus!).

    Disappointing place

Good points: - central hotel - clean room Bad points: - noisy hotel (coming from the big street but also inside the room - we can hear water leaking from other rooms, air con..) - bed/pillow not comfortable Because I’m leaving more tired than when I arrived, I won’t recommend this place and won’t come back neither.

    Reception Service declined

The reception desk is now permanently located at 15th floor but not temporary as said last time. There are less staff working at front desk that the service is not as good as before. The breakfast is extra at NT300 per person and it is a bit overcharged. The parking space at building front is rearranged that it looks more organized. The room is reasonable size and it is fine.

    Strange reception and room setup

Stayed here for a couple of nights over the new year. The location is ok, close to metro. However, the reception and room setup are very strange. The front desk is on Level 15 and no one is on the ground floor. You'll need an access card to get to Level 15, so it's very difficult to get there before you check in. There's a phone to call the desk on ground floor so someone can go down to get you. Why make it so complicated? Also, the room size is decent and clean. However, the setup is not useful at all. The double bed is stuck in the middle of the room between the bathroom and one strange wall, so it only allows this tiny bedside table and tiny space to get on and off the bed. There's this desk and sofa closer to the window and it's a complete waste of space. Why?? The internet was also very very slow, gave up after an hour. Didn't try their breakfast as it's very expensive. I don't think I'll stay at this hotel again.
