A hotel in a great locationThis large hotel is very well situated for visitors to Taipei and everything runs smoothly and efficiently. Everything is very clean and works well. The rooms are large and well appointed. I would have liked a more convivial atmosphere with more information for visitors - but can't complain as everyone was friendly and helpful
Very Poor Hospitality Service from the Duty Manageri stayed there during the Asian Veteran Fencing Championship in August for few nights. We were a party of three rooms together. The male duty manager handled our check in with very poor attitude. He was fooling us around to wait for long time to assign a ready clean room while he could easily check with the system in few minutes. I worked for hotel industry for 20 years and knowing the process and flow of checking in. The Duty Manager told us off that we asked for upgrading the room category that was the reason we need to wait for the room to be cleaned. However, we did not asked for any upgrade and only asked for a vacant clean room to check in. We stayed at the Amber Hotel before moving to Sunworld Dynasty Hotel and we felt that the service at Amber was much better then Sunworld Dynasty Hotel.
Great for PurposeI recently attended the Asian Veterans Fencing Championship in Taipei. Being located next to a shopping centre with plenty of food options and an easy walk to the venue the hotel was perfect for our purpose. In general terms, rooms were clean and comfortable, breakfast was good and staff very welcoming and friendly.
Lovely staff great location - needs some love and maintenanceStaff 5/5 Location 4/5 Amenities 2/5 Room 3/5 Pros - located next to a mini-shopping centre with Ikea (cheap groceries and drinks), a moderately priced supermarket and food court, and a 7-11 downstairs in the lobby - close to western and traditional restaurants - approx 10 mins in uber to taipei 101 and luxury shopping or 1 hour walk - lovely staff that are always eager to help - lovely breakfast buffet - decently priced restaurant downstairs although service js incredibly slow (40 minutes for a juice) Cons - low voltage in rooms - must collect a transformer adapter from reception to plug in international devices - tiny bathrooms - shower not adequate for anyone taller than 160cm - busy main road construction noises and thin walls meaning you can hear people showering/noisy guests - food arrived cold at room service - gym is in dire need of new equipment - thick mould and dust on bathroom appliances - pool area needs maintenance (water mould and rust)
UpgradedThe refurbishment gave it a new face lift. Location is good as it is just a short walk to the subway. Next to a shopping centre. Attached to the side is a 7-11. Comfortable room and neat. A big property. Lifts may be a bit slow and card key for access a bit tricky. As usual the service is helpful but reception could smile more.
