Good Italian Cuisine and PizzaThe pizza pub is always busy that wre had to book a table 2 days in advance. The plumkin soup and bread were fresh. The cooking style and presentation of spaghetti were very good. The pizza was excellent cooked by an Iltalian chef with brick open fire oven. Both food and service were very good.
Delay in check inI arrived at the hotel around 2 pm and try to check in but the room is not available yet. The staff told me to come back at 3pm.However, when I came back at 3pm, the room was still not available. The only thing they can do is to offer me to check in at the room which was much smaller than the type I have booked and wait for them to let me know once the room was ready. So I was only able to check in to the room which I have booked until 5pm. What a mess in the arrangement. Also the air conditioning at the lobby is terribly hot even it was Nov. Really need to improve.
Almost perfectOn our overall trip to Taipei, we decided to make a stay and randomly try out Sheraton as it was pretty close to the places we wanted to go. Upon arrival, the staff were fast in giving a warm welcome, and check in was relatively fast. Room was clean and overall seemed alright, although we felt that the toilet needed an upgrade with the shower head and design overall could do some improvement, this showed slightly of age on the property but was okay. What was amazing was its people and location of the hotel. It was relatively easy to go and venture into any areas of Taipei through this hotel (one stop away from main station and access to anything nearby), taxi's were properly in line and the staffs will try to understand where you plan to go before calling the taxi (this was the plus point, as local taxi's prefer locations and addresses to be in their native language), and they will give a small paper with taxi plate number just incase we accidentally left anything in the car on the way to places we wanted to go. The staffs here by far was the most accommodating throughout our stay, we would like to say a big warm thank you and highlight to the management that your staff by the name of Willian (lobby / front office) went above and beyond in assisting us on our questions, where to go what to eat where to do local activities and all... Well your upper ranking staffs some seemed trying to avoid us in conversing but Willian was a solid star, a good hotel with fantastic facilities would feel empty without good people running it and i think overall this hotel deserves a big two thumbs up for its people. We wanted to view the pool but came in back a tad too late, and room lacked sound proofing so we could hear voices and all passing our room but other than that it was alright.

UnbelievableOne of the worst experiences in a hotel of this level. The tiny business center closes 5.30pm. It charges 3usd for scanning one page!! I never experienced this in my entire life. I was explained it was because of power consumption and so on... But instead printing -where you technically have more consumption of... Paper... Ink... - is free. How absurd is that!! There are free computers for browsing on the ground floor. Too bad there is no chair to sit and work properly. You don't have even the space to rest with your hands. Entire lobby is windy, so even if you try to work at the computer, standing, you'll get a cold. Same thing with the lounge bar. Dear hotel manager, is this real for real, or maybe I was part of a show and I didn't notice it??? I'll never come back. Luckily I don't have to stay here for long.

Great hotelIt was the second Sheraton Grand that I have stayed, previous one was the Sheraton Grand at Macao. This Sheraton definitely has some history, with indoor atrium linking all floor, glass-wall lift next to the atrium. With the 17/F Sheraton Club, I can really tell this hotel belongs to the 90s or 80s, with dancing room and lots of design from the past. But does this hotel lose its charm throughout the years? Nope. Lobby and driveway: Lobby has renovated with the ideas of “great room”. Spacious and open, room for everyone to have a sit or to have a chat. Driveway is well-organised, hosts are helpful with arranging taxi. Room: It doesn’t feel old, probably renovated as well. It is quite big actually, bigger than new 5-star hotel. Room overlooking the busy junction of Executive Yuan, the view was incredible during evening rush hour, with the back lights of cars and buildings. I left the curtain open throughout my stay. Welcome fruits available on writing desk, build-in adapter wall-plugs, 4 bottles of water in room, full-set bathing amenities. Clean, nothing fancy, but enough for a good stay. Shower water pressure is good. Facilities: Gym: consists of 2 floors, equipment looks new and in good condition. Pool: outdoor, non-heated, just a pool for getting yourself wet, not for professional swimmers Hotspring: it is not exactly a sauna, it is actually a Japanese-style bathhouse, with hot water bath, sauna, steam, massage services, resting area etc 17/F is actually open for public with membership, so I was sharing the hotspring with lots of non-hotel guests. But it was never crowded and facilities were still in good condition. Breakfast: 700+10% TWD for full price, standard 5-star hotel breakfast, with selections from Western, Chinese and Japanese. Wide choice from the bakery. Juice a bit disappointed, not fresh juice. Omelette has limited ingredients selections as well. Overall, the selections of food from the breakfast buffet is not too impressive. Staff: Friendly and can also finish their task efficiently. Housekeeping staff on 14/F was courteous and friendly as well! Location: 1 min walk to Shandao Temple MRT station, 5 mins walk to Taipei Main Station exit (additional 10-15 mins walk to your platform) Overall: Nice hotel, definitely coming back next time
