Great locationJust steps away from the MRT station, at the center of Ximen area. The host was nice and friendly, however they do speak only a little English. The room was clean and comfortable even though it's a bit aged. With a reasonable price I wouldn't ask for more.
NOT TO RECOMMENDI was there staying on May 2017 , the room given was small and without air-cond,but instead bringing us a Fan . if your have a big luggage , it is not advisable to stay this Hotel as you have to carry your luggage and walk up the long stairs, troublesome and hard !!
A presence of history and serenity at King National Hotel Ximen TaipeiIt's been a while since I wrote a review it was January 2016 when my family visited me in Singapore. This time April 2017 we went back to Taiwan - yes when I went there las Oct 2016 it was a brief short visit and we would like to experience Taiwan a 2nd time around (with my parents). This time I decided to try it again at Ximending which we were very familiar when we stayed in Taiwan last year. I booked this time King National Hotel on the Hsining South Road (another main road connecting to Ximending). I saw on booking.com several reviews about it and I decided to give it a try. I notified the hotel we will arrive past midnight due to our night flight coming from Manila. I rented a wifi router prior hand and it was delivered to the hotel ahead of time and the concierge was already expecting it. The receptionists provided us are room keys and briefed us about the wifi. It's a staircase on the first floor so please be aware especially those carrying heavy suitcases. The 2nd floor is the lobby and reception and the hotel rooms are from 3F higher. They don't have any restaurant or cafe so don't expect breakfast within the hotel or any other food. Drinks are constantly replenished as well as toiletries, towels, and slippers. I love the pink slippers they provided - it wasn't the conventional thin white paper slippers provided by hotels. It is pink and soft plastic in texture. The wifi has no password needed and super fast. Hot and cold water dispensers were located per each floor. The hotel has bathtub for your use if you need some hot tub relaxation. The hotel has an ambience of unique Chinese history in Taiwan - I felt I travelled back in early 90s. The lightning, decors, and furniture are traditional Chinese fixtures. This hotel can server 3 to 4 people in a room which I have booked. The bed mattress is roughly hard in our room but I am not sure for other rooms. This hotel exceeds my expectations despite other limitations - anyways we always go out of the hotel when we travel. I would recommend this for overnight stays, budget travel and if you wanna stay in the central area of Taipei.
Excellent locationVery friendly and helpful owners. You need to speak a little Mandarin to get the most from their knowledge though. Smack in the middle of the action. Only cost NT$120 (past-midnight charge) taxi to get to the Taipei Main Station.

Cute hotel in awesome location. The ladies running this hotel are extremely nice, were very accommodating and the rooms were clean. Has basic amenities but like so many others, its all my family or I needed. Within walking distance to everything, the MRT,etc. Would definitely stay again.
