Regent Hotel TaipeiAs others have said this is very old school, solid, lots of staff and a bit dark.First hotel I have been in for years where you get a real room doorway. Felt that reception as an IHG guest was a bit overpowering and ultimately disappointing. they gave me a fat envelope telling me of all the benefits I would receive as an IHG spire member but the reality of these benefits were almost non existent. No really effort at late checkout, no idea if I had a room upgrade, for, (non alcoholic) drink and multiple benefits if i spent money in the bars restaurants, spa etc. Underwhelming and a waste of a lot of check in time. The room itself was a good size, the bathroom was very big with large showers an full sized bath. Limited lights made the room fairly dull and limited power points. There was noise from the corridors during the night which was surprise as everything felt really solid and well insulated. Free wifi worked at a reasonable speed Restaurants and bars all good, lots of other options just outside the door. If you are a shopper their is a fairly large high end arcade directly under the hotel
貼心的服務Choose Regent Taipei for the second honeymoon with my wife. When checking in, the clerks are very nice and sweet, they even send us a bottle of sparkling wine as a gift! The room is also bigger than expected with a lovely view of Zhongshan District.
Improvement requiredFood was very nice in the restaurant. However the room service menu is limited and very small portion. Was unfortunate given a room with terrible wifi connection, almost cannot find the router, recover service was excellent by providing a pocket wifi router. The room door always have the effect of being knocked on. Not sure if is due to air pressure when other room are being open and close, hopefully is this case and not something else They could done better at hotel recept by showing they are part of IHG group. Tried asking the counter staff during check in and could not understand what i am asking. Ocassion while watching movie, there was lag on the tv. A not so good experience for such a luxury hotel compared to my recent stay in Vone hotel taiwan. Friendly staff too

Excellent Service and Luxurious Accommodations !I travelled to Taipei with husband last November, and I felt I must write a review as this hotel deserves it. My husband and I arrived early, and front desk went out of their way to check us in. Since we only had one day and night to see Taipei, we had little time to waste. We were given great advice, instructions (we had so much questions as first time visitors of Taipei), and guidance, thus we were able to maximize our short visit. Nothing was too big or small as far as their availability to help us. The staff and management just made us feel like we were VIP's. Our room was spacious, spotless with the old world classiness mixed with modern. It had all the amenities and comfort of a 5 star hotel. If you are particular this is the place for you, and if you are lucky enough to have a room with a view, it is incredible. Let us just say it was hard to leave the comfort of our room and venture out. I can go on and on about the amazing experience my husband and I had. Their breakfast buffet had so much choices. Wished we could have stayed longer.
Old school luxuryStayed one night in October 2019. We arrived one hour before check-in, and was given a room after 30 mins even though our original room was not ready. The hotel felt very busy during rush hour, but once in the room, large by comparison to other hotels in Taipei, it is a sanctuary of peace and tranquility. Although the Regent is an older hotel, maintenance and housekeeping had been excellent. The bed was firm to our liking and we relaxed at the sauna which was very well appointed. Zhongshan District is a bustling area with no lack of dining options, so we did not have any meals in house. However, our previous visit for afternoon tea at the Brasserie was generally positive despite controlled chaos from the crowd. The gym is located at basement level 3, but is one of the most well-equipped in all my hotel visits. Some minor negatives during our stay include the air conditioning not being cold enough especially in the afternoon. Our room faces west, so the afternoon heat could be worse in summer. At check-in I was asked my choice of newspaper which failed to turn up the following morning. Front desk did promise to assign me a cooler room on my next stay, and hopefully I would return again soon.
