Exceeded Expectations, MostlyJust checked out after staying three nights. Nice surprise. Room and amenities were better than in Alofts in US. Price was good. The only negative was poor selection at breakfast for which they charge you. I would have been better off having breakfast at Starbucks a few doors away. Still, not big enough negative to take away a star.
Good alternative of other expensive Marriott hotels in Taipei2nd time staying at this hotel. Normally Aloft is not the brand I would consider but for Taipei where hotel price consistently exceeds our business trip allowance, I have to consider this hotel from time to time. Luckily this property does offer pretty much everything I need (minus the lounge) - good location, quiet spacious rooms, breakfast, easy access to shops/restaurants, etc., everything I remember from my last stay so it was easy to make the decision to return. | I got a different room this time - a bit smaller than last time but I actually like it better as you get a bathroom with a real door (instead of an opening space in the middle of guestroom) and a bathtub which I enjoy soaking myself in sometimes. Also layout of the room seems to be more functional too. Breakfast is included (your choice of points or breakfast upon check-in) - again it is simple and no frill but enough to get you going for the day. Outside the hotel - still enjoy the small night market behind the hotel and I even managed to discover more shops/restaurants around it this time. Really a great surprise. Staff at reception desk, as usual, is very efficient and responsive. Overall, another good experience and I think I will continue to come back for more.
Excellent customer serviceA wonderful check in experience. The front desk noticed that I met a friend at the hotel the night before my check in. They asked Me if they could make sure everything was ready for my stay. I thought that was a wonderful gesture. I was given snacks and two welcome drinks at check in. In addition, although they were at full occupancy, they gave me a really nice and comfortable corner room. Overall, I was very satisfied with this hotel.
Superb hotel for its classI like the design of this hotel, its compact, stylish and although its not a full service hotel, the staff are very capable and efficient, housekeeping was excellent and the front of house great (notably Jeffrey who helped me arrange a trip to an off the beaten path destination). The location is maybe a little off the center, but its so very near the mrt station that will take you anywhere you want go. Only thing missing is a nice gym.
Nice / clean / modern but not good value for moneyThis is a nice hotel, in terms of cleanliness, being modern and size of rooms but it’s just overpriced for what you get. Basic toiletries and services. The breakfast is very basic - almost like what you get at a really nice hostel or basic B&B. So when you pay extra - it’s just pointless, better off eating outside. The bar in the hotel is overpriced too. They seem to make it appear as an exclusive bar - but it really was not so special. Some areas were reserves and remained empty for several hours so we could not sit there. Poorly run in my view. I would probably stay elsewhere in Taipei next time, but this was just convenient as Marriott member.
