    Great location

This hotel is just at the right place. We were very close to the night market and the citylink. The room is big, very clean and cozy. They have enough selection of food, wide dining and friendly staff. There's available taxi at the entrance and very easy to find Uber rides. I will definitely be back to this hotel. Good find.

The design of bathroom and toilet doors are not fully closed, it is quite odd. I suggest the hotel should fine tune the doors design to ensure basic privacy and avoid embarrassment while using toilet...

Modern Hotel in a Good Location

This hotel is located just next to the Songshan metro and city train hub, which makes is really convenient for travel to anywhere in Taipei. A short walking distance away is the Raohe night market, in case you are craving late night shopping. It is also within walking distance to the Wufenpu wholesale clothing market. The hotel itself is rather new and the interiors are modern. It has a gym and it's own self service laundry room. The pillows are firm which is what I like. However the service, for a hotel in its class is perhaps only average. For instance during check out the staff did not ask how the stay was and merely settled the bill and said my credit card was unblocked. They could have asked because I would have told them that I fell once during the night getting out of bed because their bedroom floor was so slippery. I hit my arm on the bedside table and had some bruises the next day. But they did not ask, so here is my written feedback!

3 nights stay in Taipei. Had a room at the 21st floor with a great view over Taipei 101, the Songshan area, all the way to the mountains over the old airport. I personally like the open bathroom layout especially when shower and WC are isolated by their door. Excellent beddings, large screen TV with Netflix access, Nespresso machine (3 free capsules a day), many plugs, Bluetooth speakers... modern and yet cosy with plenty of fun in the decor, in the room and in the public areas. Great design. Excellent location next to Songshan metro station (green line, very well connected) and the Raohe Night Market. Special mention to Trisha at the reception who went her way out with smile and concern to assist us with our many not so usual requests. The stay at Amba contributed greatly to our enjoyable long Taipei week-end. Highly recommended.

Playful and Convenient Hotel with Room for Improvement

Initially, I wasn't sure about staying at a hotel in Songshan District, but amba Taipei Songshan turned out to be a convenient and pleasant choice I'd consider next time I am back in Taipei. The train/metro station is right across from the hotel, with the Green Line connecting you to all other metro lines, and the train taking you to Taipei Main Station in less than 7 minutes. The famous and always-packed Raohe Night Market is about 5 minutes on foot. The hotel begins on the 17th floor of a building and is in good condition, with playful design details, such as adding "ba" (as in amBA) to the end of every word from door signs to free slippers. Their room numbers are turned into dates: e.g. #2003 has "Finding Nemo" next to it, the year of the movie's release; #2005, the year Google Maps launched. My standard "Smart King 101 View" room is spacious enough for two and does have a side view of Taipei 101. While the shower stall and toilet are also in the same space, they have doors that shield them from the main space, and the layout makes a better sense of the room's various functions than some business hotels I've stayed at in Taipei. The hotel also has a laundry room with three machines (free) and a small fitness room; for a serious workout, Nangang Sports Center is one block away and costs only NT$50 for an hourlong workout. I did not eat at the restaurant for lunch/dinner, but the buffet breakfast had a good spread and I enjoyed the fresh fruits and veggies the most. My only complaint is that the staff could be a bit friendlier, as most appeared to not engage with guests too much. I am a no-frills solo traveler and don't like to be bothered. But I don't think it's too much to ask for just a bit more eye contact, and maybe smile, which would make this a near-perfect hotel for my future stays in Taipei.
