, Beitou Dist., Taipei City Taiwan, R.O.C
The unique charm of a city depends on its culture and its art. Taipei Arts Festival turns 21 this year and continues its mission to give a platform to creative artists from home and abroad. Taipei residents are invited to participate, to express themselves through art, and to embrace difference through dialogue. This festival celebrates the character and vitality of Taipei, and draws connections to the cultural landscapes of other cities.

Since 2018, the Festival has been headed by Singaporean curator Tang Fu-Kuen, who has broadened the Festival's horizons with his Asian-Pacific perspective. The variety of the program demonstrates the diversity of this region and creates paths for communication and exchange between cities.

The theme of the 2019 Taipei Arts Festival is: "I (do not) Belong To You". Using the concept of belonging as a point of departure, various communities gather together to use art and culture to contemplate the possibility and practical implementation of the open society as the society of the future. The 12 events and 5 work-in-progress THINK BAR presentations take a variety of forms including music, dance, theatre, and multi-media. Participants are invited to imagine a common future.

We are delighted to invite you to join us at this year's summer performances to foster dialogue and connection among different communities through participation, interaction and sharing, and so breathe new life into this diverse metropolis.
