Introduction

Built in 1919, the Jianguo Brewery was operated as the Takasago Brewery during the Japanese occupation period. At that time, it was as well known as the Sapporo Brewery in Hokkaido. After Taiwan's retrocession, the Taiwan Tobacco and Wine Monopoly Bureau acquired the facility and renamed it as the Jianguo Brewery in 1975. In 2007, the Taiwan Tobacco and Liquor Corporation (TTLC) renamed the site as the Taipei Brewery. Visitors can order food and beverages at the brewery restaurant. TTLC spirits and other souvenir items are also displayed and sold here.

Rice gives Taiwan beer its unique flavor

    2019-01

Taiwan Beer is made at the Taipei Brewery of malted barley, hops, yeast and water -- and home-gown ponlai rice. The ponlai rice gives Taiwan beer its unique flavor. Taiwan Beer will take a good chill, essential in a warm climate. The beer has a healthy head and is a rich golden amber in hue. Taiwan Beer comes in two varieties -- Classic, the original recipe, and Gold Medal. Taiwan Beer has won a number of international trophies. The Gold Medal is known as "Jin Pai." By the way, about 80 percent of beer sold in Taiwan is Taiwan Beer. There was a craze for mainland Chinese beer for a while, but it soon blew itself out.

    Disappointed

    2017-10

Im not sure if I went to the wrong part. All I found was an old shop with many different types of beers in it to buy. Which I didn't because I think they were the same prices as 7-11. Staff were not interested in helping or serving customers

    Don't do it

If you need a package store this is the place for you. It's a brewery. Period. Wait bunch of old creepy guys out front drinking. Couple of spots around back to include an Irish pub.

    Slightly different brewery

You should not expect brewery in European style but if you are thirsty draft beer is amazing 😉 and we enjoyed it very much.

Excellent Stop to Taste the Best Local Beers

    2015-09

I didn't get to tour the Brewery itself in 2014, but we did however have a few drinks at the side gift store and lounge area. The brewery and store is about 2-3 blocks from MRT Station Xhongxiao Xingshen. There's a little gift store of Taiwan Tobacco and Liquor gifts and products next to the actual brewery. You can purchase and drink fresh bottles of Taiwan beer, liquor, and wine produced. They sell bottled beers/liquor and you can purchase draft *super fresh* Taiwan beers. There is no food at this establishment however there's a few food stands across the street. If you can speak some mandarin, there's a gentlemen there that's the manager, speak with him, and you might get a few rare bottles of Taiwan beer ;) Highly recommended for anyone who loves BEER.
