Great Hotel Close to the Zhongxiao Fuxing StationThis is an older hotel and has gone through some renovation recently. Pro: Location - close to the metro (MRT) station. Many department stores and regular stores & restaurants around. Staff is super friendly and helpful. The twin beds room is spacious and had a tub and shower (separately). Two big size of free bottles of water daily. Tea, water fountain and coffee machines are located in the lobby. Con: the only thing I didn’t like is the mattress is too firm.
Lovely and clean hotel roomMy hubby has been a frequent guest of this hotel, he has been ONLY and ALWAYS staying at Royal Palace whenever he’s in Taipei. Therefore I was recommended by him to stay here too. This time I was travelling with my hubby and toddler for a vacation & business trip. The hotel staffs are super friendly and professional. Provides daily breakfast as we paid for them when we booked through Hotels.com and restaurant is very clean too. Our hotel room is quite clean, no foul smell in the room or toilet. However you can smell smoking inside our room during the night because other guests on the same level have been smoking secretly (discreetly) from their rooms which came into ours. I was displeased because I have a toddler, which is really unhealthy for her. Informed the concierge staffs but still encountered the smoking smell issue on another day. Full amenities were also provided to guests. There’s a bathtub in the toilet which was great as my child can sit inside while I bathed her easily. Daily makeup room service is also available at no surcharge if upon request (by putting the makeup room card on the knob before heading out). There’s also a nice gentleman on the concierge who will be providing travel/direction assistance, daily weather forecast to all guests and bringing us umbrellas in case of any raining episodes. A very heartwarming experience indeed. During one of the nights, i was sleeping late and decided to look outside of the window from my room to have a night view, but I didnt expect to see ‘something’ who was moving around several times inside an empty warehouse unit of a reputable audio company which was located right opposite of my room. I thought it was my hallucination but after realising I wasn’t, I quickly closed my curtains and woke up my hubby to inform him. This is the only strange encounter I ever had in my life staying in all hotels so far. Nonetheless to say, Royal Palace is a great hotel and I will still stay back in this hotel the next time I visit Taipei anytime but I would request not to stay in that specific room anymore as I don’t wish to encounter similar ‘experience’ again. Overall I recommend any tourists or visitors to stay here because of its great staffs and stone-throw away accessibilities to train station (walking distance less than 200m and less than 5 mins) with an elevator (suitable for parents with strollers and elderly), underground shopping mall and nearby malls (Sogo). And with lots of local eateries (opens day & evening) & MacDonalds (opens 24 hours) all around the walking vicinity, this hotel has the best strategic location. Lastly, thumbs up for Royal Palace and their dedicated staffs for giving us such great service in making our entire 11D accommodation a wonderful one.

Decent place to stayThis is my second visit to tapei and second time we stayed at this hotel. We got 2 rooms on the sixth floor. One for me and my son, the other for my wife and daughter. The rooms are adequate and clean. I could not get the TV to work but that is just me. The rooms are clean and the people are friendly. The elevator are not too friendly. They claim a weigh of 550 kg, not sure how much that is but we had only 6 people and the alarm sounded. Oh well, the front desk reception are nice people but you need to speak Mandarin. What they need is an interpreter for people who doesn't understand the dialect so they can be translated. Same thing applies to the maid who only speak Mandarin. It's an old hotel but it's close to the buses and subway. There is a Cafe right next to the hotel. The breakfast is decent, not sure how is the lunch or dinner since we never went there. I have nothing bad to say about the hotel. They tried hard to please the guest. The bathroom comes with shower and a tub. Maybe the third time will be a charm. There is a 7-11 around the block. The only bad thing I say is that a lot of people are on scooter and you must be careful crossing the street otherwise you could get hit.
Great location at an affordable priceStaff at the reception were polite. There is a coffee machine and tea making facility at the lobby, free of charge. Though the coffee could have tasted better, but, it is free so... The room was quiet, did not once hear any noise from traffic or the adjacent rooms. The room we had was right in front of the lifts, but, we never heard any noises. We had the Deluxe room and the bathroom was well equipped and spacious. The only downside to the room was the mattress. It definitely needed to be replaced! Location of the hotel was great, right next to a MRT station and a shopping mall, SOGO. You are right in the heart of the East area, full of shops, bars, restaurants and street foods. For the price we paid, I would definitely consider staying there, again. Only wish is for better mattress

Value for moneyWe have stayed a night during our transit to Japan. It was a pleasant surpise, I must say that I didn't have high expectation knowing well that this is an old business hotel. The hotel ia located within 5 mins walked from a MRT station, and about an hour from Taipei International Airport by MRT. The hotel is strategically located in the city centre with plenty of shopping centres and food outlets. The hotel is old but clean, the amenities and toiletries are complete. Better than most of the international hotel chains who only give upon requests. The surprise is the hotel breakfast venue, it is at Moomin Cafe, which is attached to the hotel. Overall, it is a hotel that I will come again next time, for short stay.
