Late lunchtime and crowded restaurants meant looking around and we where very lucky indeed to find Dongmen. No frills just Excellent service good choices on the menu. We loved it. -

Acceptable food and inexpensive
We started with the minced meat noodle dressed with some julienne cucumbers together with overboiled bean sprouts. There was an addictive taste to it so this was good, but with too little minced meat. We had the steamed beef dumpling next and it was juicy and the wrap was well textured but with just a tiny bit of beef. We had the corn soup and my dining companions thought it was passable although somewhat watery. We then had a cold noodles and that was chilled, spicy and sour. Then it was closing time as we started lunch late and the bill was presented to us to signal that they were closing. It came up to NT$400. They have a minimum spend of NT$70 per person, btw. -

Northern China cuisine around Dongmen station area
I happened to check out on this restaurant because it is walking distance from the hotel I stayed. The ambience is nice with a little Japanese style. Tried the dumpling, is decent but nothing to shout out. The rest of the dishes were average and I have to said that the serving is quite small in Taiwanese standard. -

Late lunch
Had a late lunch here, fried and steamed pork dumplings were nice and juicy. Fried rice was tasty and hot and sour soup was ok. Service was a little slow but all up, ok place for lunch. -

Failed to meet expectation on big name
Pass this local dumpling restaurant a few times. Believe this is a must try with its big name. End with disappointed trial. Order shallow fried and boiled dumpling, they both fail our expectation. Either the sour soup did not give taste as it was supposed to be.
