Those who love chunky meat will surely be impressed by the chewy yellow beef, with tendons steeped in broth, at the ever-crowded Beiping Gardens. With reasonable prices, this long-established restaurant offers a variety of handmade, traditional Northern Chinese delicacies, such as its signature “Tomato & Beef Noodles” that combines handmade noodles with chunky tendons. The other menu highlights include: vegetarian stuffed pancakes, pancakes sumptuously stuffed with gigantic scallions and beef, exclusive pork dumplings, and millet congee; each delicious dish is full of surprises.

Terrible serviceI visited this restaurant based on reviews I’ve read online. I can honestly say I’ve never been more disappointed and advise people to avoid this place. Not only did I have to wait forever to receive my food (only beef noodle soup), the waiter was unapologetic and didn’t seem to care at all. There was barely anyone in the restaurant and after waiting long enough, I decided to leave. Horrible experience and a definite first I’ve felt this way in Taiwan.

Tomato beef noodles are the highlightThis place is well known among Taipei beef noodle aficionados for the quality, softness and juiciness of the beef it uses, for the quality of its fresh shaved noodles ( 刀削麵), and for the tangy taste of its tomato beef noodles, the showcase dish that, as the name implies, has a big boiled tomato swimming in it. The beef and spring oinion rolls also worth trying, nice and crunchy and not at all greasy.
