Located on Minsheng West Road, the namesake dish at Lao Tung Beef Noodles won first place at the 2006 Taipei International Newrow Mian Festival. It was also featured in festival ads with former Taipei Mayor Ma Ying-jeou and other celebrities.
Among the many popular dishes that have earned Lao Tung such considerable fame are curry-fried bean curd with beef noodles, tomatoes beef noodles, braised beef tendon noodles, and tripe noodles. The Beijing-style snacks—scallion pancakes, beef wraps, barbecue wraps, bean paste pancakes—are also worth a try. Beef jerky in original, pepper, and chili varieties further round out the tasty menu at Lao Tung Beef Noodles.

Beefy GoodnessJust opposite the Shipai MRT this place serves up some really good varieties of beef noodle soup. Brisket, Short Rib, Ox Tail and of course some offal cuts as well. I ordered the Short Rib, but on the recommendation of the cook/owner I got some Ox Tail as well..... The Short Rib was really good but the Ox Tail was amazing! The bark was left on and was so soft and flavorful I enjoyed it just as much as the meat. The broth is super rich but very mild. The two chili sauces and pickled mustard greens on the table kicked it up just right. And the mix of braised onion and carrot with the fresh spring onions made it perfect. The noodles are thinner than most Taiwanese Beef Noodle shops but that means they absorb more flavor from the broth while still being just a bit toothsome. It's not a tourist spot and the owner was super nice and helpful recommending the dish asking if the food was ok... More than ok sir, thanks for a great lunch!
Simple et efficaceUn grand bol de nouilles au boeuf avec leur bouillon. La petite portion est copieuse, ne prenez la grande que si vous avez très faim. Le boeuf est tendre et goûteux. Approuvé !
