Worth to try if you are in Ning Xia night marketThere were few stalls sold taro ball at Ning Xia street night market, but Lou Yu Zi was the best, and was listed in Michelin guide. They sale only two type of taro ball, one is plain, the other one with salted egg yolks and pork floss. The plain was 20 NT and the egg yolk was 25 NT, you have to buy the minimum of two. The line was long, expecting to wait at least 30 mins, but it was worthwhile. The taro was crunchy from the outside, soft from the inside, with a gentle flavor of the taro. It was a simple snack but very fulfilling and satisfying.
Overrated but worth trying.Seeing the long queue, we decided to jump on the bandwagon and join in. The waiting time was about 20-25 minutes considering the fact that we're queuing on Taiwan's National Day, so that's alright. We decided to get 6 deep fried taro balls with egg yolk and they were priced at NT$25 each. Taste was as you'd expect — nothing spectacular here. We personally feel that it is overrated for its taste, but it was worth trying because it is not very bad (not extraordinarily good either).
