Taipei Travel

We came here in the evening and it was very lively. There are lots of shops here and people. You can see many young people as the area is near to a University. There are also many street food and eateries all around. If you like a place full of energy and character, this is the place to be.

Anyone over 30 would feel out of place in Ximending, it's the kingdom of youth. Lots cheap eating houses, bubble tea, knock off fashions and so on. It's usually crowded day and night.

1. Went on Sun night. Very crowded. Many shops to see and many eateries and street food to try. 2. If going with small kids, just have to be careful in case they get lost. 3. Must try the street food, very nice and interesting.

We visited this place during the day (late morning) and easily spent 4 hours exploring. There's less crowd during the day and more spacious overall, since the food stalls/peddlers only come out at night. Still, there is so much to see, eat, and buy in Ximending during the day! I actually suggest coming here during the day if you have kids with you. Lots of branded shoe stores on sale - Adidas, Nike, Reebok. Husband easily bought 2 pairs of shoes within an hour! There's Ah-Chung Rice Flour Noodles which will have a queue. This is a must try! Hot Star Fried Chicken also has a booth here, again, there will be queues. Lots of bubble milk tea stores too. I do not recall seeing a free public washroom so better use the one in the MRT before heading here. There is also a Uniqlo store in this area. This is a much "cleaner" and sophisticated place compared to Shilin. Think of Causeway Bay in HK.

Awesome shopping and eating place. Yes, it did feel like Japan. It was a rainy night for us when we were there but we still enjoyed exploring Ximending. Lots of shops especially Adidas. Lots of eateries there. I loved the small Taipei eateries around that area. The famous Red House Theatre is located at Ximending. It is now a market.
