Entrance to the city
The East Gate ("Dong Men") is in a significant area of Taipei, near the Presidential Offices and other significant buildings and roadways. Taipei once had city walls, but they were demolished during the Japanese colonial era (1895-1945). Several gates, including the East Gate, remain. -

Old Taipei's main gate
Old Taipei City was once surrounded by walls, which were demolished during the Japanese colonial period (1895 - 1945). Most of the gates remain. The East Gate has been restored recently, it is quite magnificent. It's at the corner of Ketagalan Boulevard and Chung Shan South Road. it's a busy intersection, you may have to view East Gate from a distance. This is a prime area for important institutions, including the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, which is close by, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA). The name "Dong Men" (East Gate) refers to this prestigious area. -

This is located at center of a busy street. This is near the Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial. Worth to see as it is part of the icons of Taipe. -

Town gate
One of the main gates of historical Taipei. It is an impressive structure, now located on a roundabout in the middle of a busy road. -

Majestic structure boasting a stately facade
As Taipei's main Gate, the Jingfumen is a majestic structure and boasts the most stately facade. Our guide told us that it was crafted with stones from the suburban Dazhi area. The structure's raised platform is built of stone. The second floor was designed in the northern palatial style with a hip-and-gable roof. It is similar in appearance to the South Gate and Little South gate. Because it is located amid a very busy street, my spouse and I were only able to snap several quick photos from the car while our guide drove by.
