Introduction

Nung Chan Monastery is a monastery built by Venerable Master Dongchu from Dharma Drum Mountain, based on the principle of farming for a living and meditation as a lifestyle. Known as a water-moon monastery, it is being listed as one of the historical buildings of Taipei City, and is a popular tourist attraction due to its beautiful and tranquil ambience.

Nung Chan Monastery is a serene Buddhist temple, and visitors are advised to abide by the rules. 
*Do not bring or consume non-vegetarian food, betel nut, cigarette or alcoholic drinks. 
*Do not wear shorts, mini skirts, sleeveless tops or slippers. 
*Do not enter “restricted” areas. 
*Do not play by the water-moon pond or make noise. 
*Do not pick the plants, step on the lawn, or sit or lie on the stones. 
*Do not leave your trash behind causing environmental burden. 
*Do not bring pets (except guide dogs).
