When Typhoon Soudelor swept across Taiwan in 2015, the strong wind and fallen signboards caused the poles of the red and green mailboxes on Longjiang Road to bend towards the same direction, resembling a pair of persons “bending”. Due to their adorable look, they have received high attention from the public. Hence, these two mailboxes are fondly named the “tilted mailboxes”, and have since become an unusual attraction of Taipei City.

In addition to tourism value and historic significance, the tilted mailboxes still maintain their mail collection function based on the assessment of Chunghwa Post.
