The former official residence of Chiang Kai-shek and Madam Chiang maintains a quiet and attractive garden. The garden is full of plums, chrysanthemums and roses favored by the Chiang couple. Flowers bloom according to season and make for a stunning view throughout much of the year.

Beautiful gardens in the site and nice to walk around hereGood historical place to visit. Beautiful gardens in the site and nice to walk around here. The gardens include both Chinese and Western style horticulture. The Shilin Official Residence is the former residence of late Taiwan President Chiang Kai-shek located on Zhongshan North Road in Shilin District of Taipei. Site is open to the public and free entrance, but you need to take ticket to visit inside the residence building. Photos are not allowed inside the house. The residence is accessible within walking distance from Shilin MRT Station.

Sunny DayWe went in May but the sun came out the day we visited. I recommend checking the weather before going. It is a big and beautiful garden so it's definitely picture worthy. I learned a lot from CKS's house. You can't bring in food nor take photos inside. We used our Taiwan 3 Day Pass so we didn't need to get tickets. It just got scanned by the entrance. I recommend at least an hour of exploring in this place.
Beautiful park honouring the late Chiang Kai-shekThe park has characteristics of a botanical garden, but is not as lush and well-maintained as most. Nice place for a walk. The official residence and information on the late Chiang Kai-shek is helpful on learning more on this honoured leader of Taiwan.
Park for free; inside the residence is notThe park is free. You can visit the flower garden. But, you need to pay 80 NT if you want to get inside the building; if you are a student, you need to pay just 50 NT.
