Puppetry Art Center of Taipei

Anchor point

Friday:Off day

The Puppetry Art Center of Taipei was born from a passion with puppetry. In 1998, Paul Lin, chairman of the Taiyuan Arts and Culture Foundation, donated space to house the center. After careful planning by the Taipei City Department of Cultural Affairs, the center was finally opened to provide a home for the preservation of puppetry culture. Located near the Living Mall, the center presents its traditional subject matter in a thoroughly modern setting. In addition to displays, the center arranges puppet shows and organizes fun and educational puppetry classes.

Disappointed perhaps because we were on our own and we could not read Chinese. After purchasing entrance we were left on our own to explore this two storey building with showcasing puppetry in Asia in various chambers. Unfortunately, there was insufficient chronological guidance on the history of puppetry in Asia. Display felt random. Had we known we would not have purchased the tickets.

You will spend 45 minutes there, tops. It wasn't interactive. Maybe there are actual shows during other times of the year.
