Gothic church has a long historyJinan Church was build in 1916, during the Japanese colonial era (1895-1945). The English Gothic style shows the influence of European architectural styles. Although there are a few cracks, it is in good condition. It remains an active parish of the Presbyterian Church.
Historic church has active congregationThe Presbyterian Church has been highly influential in Taiwan. The Sai Wei Cho Church is one of many such churches, Jinan Church was built in the 19th century. It is in neo-gothic style. The building materials are mainly red brick. It has a four level tower. The interior, like most Presbyterian Churches, has a vaulted ceiling but is otherwise quite plain. Because of the nature of governance in the Presbyterian Church, Jinan Church's continued existence depends on the support of local parishioners.
Presbyterian church has influential historyThe Presbyterian Church has been active in Taiwan since the 19th century; it is one of the most influential non-government organisations on the island. Jinan Church is built in red brick, in pseudo Gothic style. The in-built exterior buttresses are interesting. The four-level bell tower resembles those found in churches built in England during the 19th century. Jinan Church still hosts an active parish of the Presbyterian Church. It is also known as Sai Wei Cho Church, The congregation has historically included members from organisations located in the area.

Architecturally InterestingA historically interesting building in that it combines a mix of western Neo-Gothic and eastern architecture. As is typical of Gothic styled churches, it has high vaulted ceilings, otherwise the interior is quite plain and simple. Still currently an active church.
