Tamsui Old Street

The far end of Old Street opens onto the Fisherman's Wharf, which is a perfect locale for viewing the sunset. Here also are the docks from whence travelers may ferry across the harbor to Bali.

Spending our time here before leaving back to Taipei after a day tour into this county's. As Taiwan is famous for its night market it's no different to the rest but this is much smaller in scape to the main Xilin in center Taipei. Nothing to shout about as what you find in one night market you find it here.

We came here after visiting Tamsui Fisherman's Wharf. Tamsui Old Street sells a variety of local food at reasonable price. If you are a fan of NaRaYa bags, there is a shop located within the area. Overall, a good place to stop by if you have the time.

    Interesting street market

Tamsui Old Street can be reached by traveling to the north end of the MRT red line. Located on the Tamsui river, there is a museum, temple, several parks and inside restaurants, however the main attractions are the many outside shops and food providers. I sampled the squid which I found quite chewy, followed by a large ice cream cone(it was a hot day). Be prepared to do a lot of walking. Only go on the weekends if you like large crowds and use a EasyCard on your return trip to the city unless you enjoy standing in a long line.

This is much like a lot of the other lively streets in taipei except it is near the water. There are some games for children, and some statues along the water but really not impressed. A few things I hadn't seen before, like Turkish ice cream but overall on par with most places in Taipei (which happens to be pretty good)

    'Nighttime Stroll'

Strolling along the street, you will find a lot of souvenir shops, restaurants and all kinds of local snacks. A number of alleys bustling with boutique shops, shoes and bags are up for grabs. No rush, just take your time to shop.
