Taipei Lantern Festival is an opportunity to pass on Chinese cultural heritage, incorporate creative art and technology, and promote tourism within Taipei. With the city as its brand and image, the festival has become Taipei’s major tourism event. The festival tells a story in a creative and sustainable way, and it brings festive Chinese New Year spirit into marketing the city and carries on the folk culture of Lantern Festival. No smaller in scale than other famous celebrations overseas, world-renowned stars or theater troupes are also invited to perform at the festival as part of the effort to attract foreign visitors. The festival also organizes a cultural and creative market, utilizing interactive technology and visual-audio art performances to give the annual event new twists. It has since become a new tourist attraction for overseas visitors, and gives visitors a chance to engage with the city and enjoy an innovative experience.
