The Taipei Marathon is an important annual international road-running event. In recent years it has drawn participants from close to 40 countries worldwide. In 2016, a route through the old city was developed, passing characteristic scenic spots such as Taiwan Democracy Memorial Hall, and the Lizheng, Chongxi, Jingfu and Cheng’en gates. Within the urban jungle runners can enjoy the historical charm of the old city, and this will give a whole new look to Taipei Marathon. Aiming to be a certified event for both elite runners and ordinary people that features various activities, every year the event comes closer towards becoming a truly great international city marathon.
