Museums offer a wonderful option for a comfortable outing in any weather. The 228 Peace Park, adjacent to the Taipei Main Station, features the Taipei 228 Memorial Museum and monument. The main building of the National Taiwan Museum (NTM) houses an extensive collection of precious Taiwanese historical and cultural materials, natural products, and specimens. Across from it, the National History Branch of NTM (Tuyin Exhibition Hall) features paleontology and dinosaur fossil specimens that are beloved by children. The Railway Department Park is a favorite among railway enthusiasts, showcasing the historic site and base of the Railway Department of the Government-General of Taiwan, along with exhibits on railway culture and modern-related issues. The Taipei Postal Museum, on the other hand, not only exhibits postal products and promotes philatelic activities but also organizes related events.

Apart from exploring museums, Taipei also has various distinctive exhibition halls. For example, Taipei Zhongshan Hall, characterized by its magnificent and elegant design, stands as a large public building rarely seen in Taiwan back in 1936; and the Taipei Futai Street Mansion, formerly the site of the "People's News-Leader" and nicknamed the "stone house", has borne witness to the changes in Taipei's urban area and remains the earliest privately-owned architecture still in existence within the old town of Taipei.

There are also characteristic shopping districts and high streets near Taipei Main Station. The Chengzhong Market, established as an area aggregated by vendors within the Taipei City Walls since the Qing Dynasty, remains a traditional market that gathers various delicacies today. Yuanling Shoe Street, featuring giant black shoe and high-heeled shoe installations, is home to numerous old shoe stores. Hankou Street, also known as the "Camera Street", offers a wide array of photography equipment and supplies. Moreover, the shopping district in front of Taipei Main Station accommodates numerous office buildings, financial institute headquarters, and cram schools, solidifying its status as one of Taiwan's significant central business districts.
