Bangka Historical Tour
The first major area of settlement in Taipei, Bangka contains many temples and historic sites. The old streets of Bangka also have a small scale that makes them very suitable for walking. So today we will take a tour of this historic place!
Get off the Metro at the Longshan Temple Station and walk to the Longshan Temple, which is a major religious center in the Wanhua area. The temple contains over 100 deities. You can pray for peace and blessings from Guanyin Bodhisattva, or ask Matchmaker about your marital prospects. The Longshan Temple has many ways of giving people the power of peace of mind.
The well-known Herbal Lane is located next to Longshan Temple. Ask at any shop to get some suitable medicinal herbal tea, and you can also enjoy a cup of cooling grass tea. You can sip your tea as you stroll along Guangzhou Street, and see red tile roofs of Bopiliao, where Wanhua first developed as a commercial district.
If you continue, you will soon see Qingshui Temple and Qingshan Temple, which have long provided local residents with divine protection. These two historical and artistically valuable buildings are both municipal historic sites, and are worthy of a close look.
After a day’s walking, it’s time for supper. You are sure to find plenty of delicious food at the tourist night market on Huaxi Street. Apart from a vast array of Taiwanese snack foods, you will also find exotic snake dishes and the "Tainan Tantsumien" seafood restaurant, which is exceptionally popular with tourists. After you have eaten your fill, it will be a good time to think about where you want to go tomorrow!
