Taipei Tea Promotion Center for Tie Guanyin Tea and Baozhong Tea
Taiwan, with its warm, humid weather and fertile soil is the ideal place for growing tea, and it has been a very profitable industry for Taiwan for over 200 years. Many people drink tea daily, maybe including you, but how much do you actually know about tea? And how does it compare with your own tea habits?

If you’re after a better understanding of the history and culture of tea in Taiwan, or have simply built a thirst after walking some of the trails nearby, why not make a stop at the Taipei Tea Promotion Center for Tieguanyin and Baozhong?

Built in 1985, this tea promotion center is a nice spot to take a rest, sample some of the local tea varieties, and learn all about the tea industry in Maokong. Here you’ll find a bright, open space museum with a relaxed, cool atmosphere where you can rest for a while and become immersed in everything tea. There are many subtle differences in the way tea is made and enjoyed in Taiwan. This is the best place to find out!

The small museum inside has great examples of tea manufacturing equipment, and informative displays showing the steps with which the tea is manufactured and processed. You’ll be surprised at how much tea manufacturing has changed over the years. Soon you will feel like a tea expert and know how to brew and drink tea the Taiwanese way.

After you’ve made your way through the museum, head downstairs to sample some of the free Tieguanyin tea from one of the local tea growers. Outside there is also a peaceful garden where you can feed the koi fish in the pond, and take in some breathtaking views before you continue your journey in Maokong.
