Which season do you think will be best to visit Maokong? Just like all natural environments throughout the world, Maokong’s rolling mountains go through many seasonal changes. All must be experienced to get a full appreciation for Maokong’s natural beauty. The optimal time to visit for many people is spring.

During February and March of each year, a wonderful seasonal magic takes place in Maokong as the hills begin to turn red and pink. Can you guess what is causing this wondrous change every springtime? It is of course the apricot and cherry blossom, and has proven to be a major attraction for tourists who come to see the beauty of the flowers, drink a good cup of tea, and take romantic photos amongst the flowers. The place to visit to get the full experience of the apricot blossom during spring time is 'The Apricot Blossom Farm’.

Established in 1983, the Apricot Blossom Farm is a private farm that was owned by a farmer by the name of Zhang Dingding, affectionally known as “Ding Bo”. Ding Bo, whose name translates to ‘Uncle Ding' opened the farm to the public out of a desire to share the beauty of the blossoms, so that people can come to enjoy the flowers and perhaps buy some to take home to their loved ones. This warm countryside hospitality may be familiar to you and will make you feel at home.

Besides producing Chinese radish, mustard greens, fruit preserves, and other tasty treats, the farm also offers a variety of activities including detailed tours and tea-biscuit making sessions. Its biggest enchantment, however, is undoubtedly the vibrant blossom each spring, which attracts tens of thousands of tourists.
