With the approach of dragon boat season, the 2017 Taipei Dragon Boat Festival will be taking place at the Dajia Riverside Park between May 28 and 30!

As one of the three major festivities for Chinese societies around the world, the Dragon Boat Festival is often associated with cultural icons such as dragon boats, zongzi (wrapped sticky rice), balancing eggs at noon, and fragrant sachets.

To ensure that locals can enjoy an unforgettable Dragon Boat Festival, Taipei City Government will host this year’s event at Dajia Riverside Park. Consisting of booths and activities highlighting fun for the entire family, this event will allow children to come into closer contact with nature through outdoor activities by the river. The annual zongzi-wrapping competition is a chance for ladies and mothers to demonstrate their skill at creating the tasty entrée! Meanwhile, the egg-balancing event taking place at noon will challenge participants in exercising their capabilities at making an egg ‘stand.’ Offering activities ranging from games and fun to delicious snacks, the riverside carnival promises to bring laughter and joy during this period.

The most important event of the festival – dragon boat racing – will see the participation of over 200 teams hailing from both Taiwan and abroad. With total prizes reaching NT$1 million, Taipei’s dragon boat competition is the largest of its kind on the island. Another highlight for 2017 is the City University Dragon Boat Invitation.
