The 2017 Taipei Christmas Festival has officially kicked-off! Comprising 12 major department stores, 4 specialty commercial districts, and 80 businesses, the 15-day-long event offers a total of 15 different types of nutcracker bears for you to add to your holiday collections!

Director of Taipei City Office of Commerce (TCOOC) Tsai Tsung-hsiung noted that Christmas is a major season for businesses to hold sales and promotion. To promote the specialty commercial districts of Taipei City, the agency is tapping into the wave of holiday shopping to organize the “Taipei COOL Christmas” campaign. Through the use of “treasure-hunting” maps, the agency connects over 80 businesses across the city to take part in the stamp rally.

Some of the well-known stores and businesses taking part in this year’s Christmas promotion event include SOGO, Taipei 101, ATT 4 Fun, Q Square, Mingyao Department Store, Xinyi Vieshow, Miramar, Uni-Ustyle, Breeze Center, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi, Eslite Spectrum, and Bellavita. Participating commercial districts include Chaoyang, Huayin, Station-rear, and Wenfenpu.

The highlight of the festival is the nutcracker bears which come in 15 different designs. To participate, individuals can visit any of the 10 tourist information centers (or participating department store/business) to pick up the stamp rally map. The map can also be downloaded and printed from the activity website, or participants can choose to use the app version of the map for the event.

Participants of the stamp rally campaign will need to collect 3 different stamps from any of the 82 participating businesses (at least one of the stamps should be from a store in the commercial districts). They can submit the stamp sheet along with a receipt or proof of purchase exceeding the minimal spending amount (NT$500 for department stores or NT$300 for independent businesses) to receive one nutcracker bear.

On Christmas Day (Dec. 25), there will be a one-day special event where individuals who collect 3 different stamps from any of the 82 participating businesses (at least one of the stamps should be from a store in the commercial districts) and a receipt from a purchase acquired on the same day can exchange for a nutcracker bear.

In addition, those who collect all 7 different kinds of nutcracker bear are eligible to receive the secret eighth version nutcracker bear. Simply bring the box for each of the 7 bears to exchange for secret version on December 29. The place to turn in the packages will be announced on the Chinese Facebook fan page of TCOOC and the activity website.
