Access to MRT Zhongxiao Fuxing Station has just become much easier for everyone! The escalator installation project at Exit 1 has been completed, and the new facility will be accessible to the public starting Sunday, September 26.
With the addition of the new escalator, people entering the station via Exit 1 will no longer have to climb the stairs, since there is now two escalators to accommodate travel in both directions.
Exit 1 of MRT Zhongxiao Fuxing Station is located at the intersection of Zhongxiao East Road Section 3 (No. 291) and Andong Street. Originally consisting of one escalator and 1 staircase, the staircase at the exit is now replaced by the additional escalator to allow more convenient access.
In response to an aging society and to create a barrier-free environment for commuters, the city government has carried out the ambitious project of installing two escalators or one elevator for at least one exit on each side of the road where a station is located. It expects to complete the installation of 60 escalators and 1 elevator for exits across 23 station exits and 4 platform exits at 16 MRT stations by the end of 2022.
