How long has it been since you last visited a theater to enjoy domestic films? Taiwan’s film industry has acquired outstanding results in recent years. To encourage more residents to walk into the theater and watch these great works, the Department of Information and Tourism (TPEDOIT) has joined hands with 16 movie theaters to organize the “Watch Domestic Films with NT$100 off” activity. A total of 28,000 discount vouchers will be given away.
TPEDOIT: Come and Show Your Support for Domestic Films
TPEDOIT Commissioner Liu Yi-ting pointed out that the city government is very supportive of domestic films. In addition to the annual Taipei Film Festival, the agency introduced the new “Watch Domestic Films with NT$100 off” activity this month. Starting October 15, individuals who line up at the ticket booth to purchase movie tickets for domestic films can enjoy NT$100 discount for tickets that cost over NT$101.

The agency reminds moviegoers that each show only offers 20 discount vouchers, and each individual can purchase a maximum of 2 tickets. The discount is only available for those lining up on the day of the movie and is not applicable for presold tickets and tickets bought over the internet.

According to TPEDOIT, some of the popular domestic films aired include the opening and closing movie of Taipei Film Festival, including ‘Till We Meet Again’, ‘Treat or Trick’, ‘Grit’, and ‘Formula 17’. Another film that movie lovers don’t want to miss is ‘Eagle Hand’ – the winner of Best Documentary Feature, Best Cinematography, and Best Female Director awards at this year’s Cannes World Film Festival.

The 16 partner theaters include SKCINEMAS (Wanhua), Cinemark, Wonderful Theatre, in89 CINEMAX, Lux Cinema, SPOT-Huashan, Blossom Cinema, SPOT Taipei Film House, Governor Cinemas, Star Cinema, MEET Eslite, Vieshow Cinemas, Muvie Cinemas, Vieshow Cinemas Taipei Qsqaure, Halar Cinema, and Century Asia.
