Deputy Commissioner of Economic Development Wu Hsin-pei, Senior Specialist of the Council of Agriculture Forestry Bureau Huang Hsiu-chuan, and representatives from the Department of Cultural Affairs kicked-off the event together. The opening performance at the main stage was presented by singer and winner of multiple prestigious awards Lin Sheng-xiang.

The opening event lasted for two days and featured activities such as a guided tour of the public art displays, fun challenges for the entire family, and artist workshop, as well as an outdoor fair comprising over 50 stalls offering information on topics such as birdwatch education, animal protection advocacy, and ecosystem protection promotion.

Deputy Commissioner Wu remarked that Taipei City Government has entrusted the operation of the Guandu Nature Park to the Wild Bird Society of Taipei (WBST) for many years. The site of the park is an important natural asset for Taipei City, and a valuable wetland preserve for the nation.

The organizers of this year’s Bird-watching Festival selected the theme “Birding and Life Festival,” hoping to merge bird-watching and a leisure lifestyle and let residents learn more from observing birds in their daily life.

On the other hand, the Nature Arts Festival highlights the methodology of recovering, encouraging people to contemplate issues from the Anthropocene to the post-pandemic era. Exhibition curator Liao Bo-sen worked with 5 participating artists to set up art pieces by using natural materials collected from the park’s parameters.
