On November 28, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CDCC) announced that it will be relaxing the mandatory face mask measure and other guidelines starting December 1. However, the face mask mandate will remain in effect for indoor spaces (including inside cars, ships, and other transportations), where the face mask is still required at all times. 

The interior of public transportations, such as buses and MRT, are confined spaces. In the interest of minimizing the risk of contagion, the face mask mandate will continue for public transportations such as buses, MRT, and taxi cabs in Taipei City and New Taipei City. 

Violators will be asked to follow the rules and put on a face mask. If he or she does not heed the warning, the vehicle operator will have the right to refuse service and call the cops. In addition, the violator may be slapped with fines between NT$3,000 and NT$15,000 under the Communicable Disease Control Act.

Passengers taking public transportation should refrain from chatting throughout the ride and maintain social distancing to minimize the risk of contracting COVID-19.

Individuals who have a fever or showing signs of respiratory infection (such as coughing) should seek medical help at the hospital as soon as possible and avoid taking public transportation. They should also implement personal protection measures to minimize the risk of infecting others.
