During his address, Chiang commented on the remarkable fine weather on the opening day and invited everyone to come and visit Yangmingshan. The Yangmingshan Flower Festival has been held annually for over sixty years, making the area one of the most famous tourist destinations for visitors from across Taiwan and abroad. Unfortunately, the event was cancelled two years ago due to the pandemic, and last year’s event saw implementations of strict pandemic prevention measures such as face mask being required at all times. Fortunately, the subsiding of the pandemic allows visitors to enjoy the blooms more freely this year.

Regarding the flower festival-related activities, the mayor pointed out that the Taipei Cherry Blossom Cup Street Dance Competition will be held on February 25, with total cash prizes reaching NT$100,000. The combination of flowers with street dance highlights the vitality of youths in a landscape decorated with spring blooms.

The mayor pointed out that there are numerous cherry blossom trees on Yangmingshan, consisting of types spanning Taiwan cherry to Yae-zakura to Yoshino cherry. He also introduced the heritage buildings in the area, including Xinhai Guangfu Hall, Hwa Kang Museum, Yangmingshan Chungshan Hall, Yangming Shuwu, Lin Yutang House, and former residence of Yan Xishan. There are also over 50 partner stores offering discounts and deals to visitors during the flower festival.

Chiang concluded his speech by encouraging the public to explore Shilin District when they visit Yangmingshan. He suggested activities such as afternoon tea at Renaissance Taipei Shilin Hotel; tulips-viewing at Shilin Residence, and lantern displays at the Taipei Performing Arts Center. He invites everyone to come to Yangmingshan and visit the flower festival before the event concludes on March 19.
