Attention pet owners! Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation (TRTC) will celebrate National Pet Day by operating a one-day special reserved train for pets. On April 9, the special train for pets and their owners will run on the Tamsui-Xinyi Line, taking owners and their pets from MRT Xiangshan Station to MRT Yuanshan Station.
Those interested in taking the train with their small or medium-sized pets (limited to dogs and cats) can make reservations on the activity website starting at 10 AM on March 13. Registration will close on March 19 ([Link]).
The special train will accommodate up to 30 groups of pet owners. Each group can include up to four individuals and two pets. Applications will be reviewed by the Animal Protection Office and only qualified groups will be accepted.
Participants are reminded that pets are required to put on harnesses and leashes at all times during the journey. They can explore the train freely with their owners. Each individual will need to pay the standard fare for the trip, but the pets get to ride for free (please refer to guidelines on taking the MRT with pet strollers).
TRTC reminds pet owners that their pets should be inoculated and registered. Flea spray will also need to be applied to their pets ahead of time. The designated pet train will undergo disinfectant procedures and cleaned thoroughly before being reassigned to regular services.
A National Pet Day Weekend Fair is slated for the weekend of April 8 and 9, located right outside MRT Yuanshan Station. Comprising numerous stalls, visitors will be able to enjoy goods and services targeting pet owners and their furry friends.
