To celebrate Children’s Day, Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation (TRTC) teamed up with Japanese toymaker Takara Tomy to introduce the “Taipei MRT – MRT Taipei Zoo Station” train set under the renowned PLARAIL railroad toy series.
The special train set will go on sale at the MRT merchandise stores at MRT Zhongxiao Fuxing Station, MRT Nanjing Fuxing Station, MRT Zhongshan Station, and MRT Taipei Main Station starting March 21.
Following the release of the MRT Basic Set in January of 2023, the positive feedback from customers encouraged TRTC to follow up the initial success with the Taipei MRT – MRT Taipei Zoo Station train set. In addition to extending the length of train tracks, the new set also comes with a cargo train carrying a cute panda, as well as a city street playmat for kids to create an urban scene. The product is priced at NT$1,499.
The MRT basic set, on the other hand, comes with two train cars, a railway track set, a train station platform and station stickers. The price of the basic set is NT$999.
In addition to the aforementioned brick-and-mortar MRT souvenir stores, these train sets will also be available via TRTC’s online store on Shopee ([Link]), as well as the upcoming Takara Tomy PLA RAIL Festival at the Far Eastern Department Stores in Banqiao can also be purchased from March 23rd to April 5th.
