The mayor pointed out that the beloved festival won high acclaims from both parents and kids. Over the last few years, residents both young and old have to endure strict pandemic prevention measures and missed out on major public performances at theaters. That is why he would like to invite people to come back and enjoy the summer showcase, which is made possible thanks to the easing of restrictions.

With over 200 shows this year, the Taipei Children’s Arts Festival demonstrates the efforts invested by performing artists taking part in the event. Mayor Chiang took the opportunity to express his gratitude to event partners and theatric troupes. He added that additional care has been put into the program guide, with phonetic notations added to the Chinese characters in the publication. The aim is to help young kids read the pamphlet themselves, encouraging them to familiarize themselves with reading Chinese words.

According to Chiang, the theme of this year’s festival is “it’s up to kids.” He hopes that the youngsters can be more independent and make their own choice by choosing the events they are interested in and want to attend. Unlike past years where the shows primarily target elementary school students, this year’s performances will seek to accommodate viewers across the age groups.

At the end of his speech, the mayor expressed his gratitude to president Liu Ruo-yi of Taipei Performing Arts Center and all the performers and groups involved in the festival. He praised the efforts of the theatric groups and encouraged parents to bring their kids to the exciting shows at this year’s Taipei Children’s Arts Festival.
