The Taipei Maokong Tea Party, a guided tour of the Maokong area involving traditional Chinese tea workshop and a visit to the Maokong Gondola depot, will take place starting July 15. The activity is the collaboration among the Department of Information and Tourism (TPEDOIT), the Taipei City Maokong Leisure Industry and Community Development Association, and the Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation.

TPEDOIT pointed out that Maokong is a major tea-producing region in northern Taiwan. In addition to being the home of the famous Muzha Iron Goddess Tea, the area also boasts numerous ecological and historical resources, making it a popular destination for green tourism. To allow visitors to enjoy an in-depth experience at Maokong, this year’s tour package will include a visit to the gondola depot, a tea-tasting session, a DIY class on brewing cold tea, and a sampling session of Maokong sweets.

According to the agency, the tours will be held respectively on July 15, July 19, August 9, and August 12. A total of 150 openings are available for each tour session. Originally priced at NT$1,320, the package may be purchased on ACCUPASS for the discounted price of NT$600.

In addition to tea and sweets, there are also a number of stores in Maokong offering entire tea-themed meal course. This year’s tour package also comes with a NT$100 voucher usable at the Maokong business district, hoping to encourage participants to explore the neighborhood and either try out some of the delicacies or purchase souvenirs to bring home to loved ones.

For users of Popworld Smart Tour app, there will be a stamp rally designed specifically for the Maokong area lasting through August 31. Those successfully collecting 13 stamps at featured tourist destinations across the neighborhood will have a chance to bring home a NT$500 Maokong Business District voucher!
