To accommodate the needs of summer travel and strengthen collaboration through resource integration, the Department of Information of Tourism (TPEDOIT) joined hands with New Taipei City Tourism and Travel Department, Taoyuan City Department of Tourism, and Keelung City Department of Tourism and City Marketing to attract visitors to explore the wonderful destinations across northern Taiwan.

Northern Municipalities Join Hands to Offer Summer Tourism Bargains
During the 2023 Summer Travel Expo, the pavilion of TPEDOIT organized the “Keelung, Taipei, New Taipei, and Taoyuan Cities Cooperation and Exchange” event. Commissioner Chen Shu-hui of TPEDOIT pointed out that Taipei City Government first introduced the Taipei Fun Pass in 2017, which integrated deals of various venues, tourist attractions and transportation options across Taipei, New Taipei, and Keelung. As of today, the special ticket package has accumulated sales exceeding 1.6 million copies.

The newly introduced “Fun Cat Combo Ticket,” which integrates resources at Maokong Gondola and Taipei Zoo, sold 5,867 sets after becoming available on June 21. Also debuting in July, the TPASS/Megacity Pass plays a key role in making travel on public transportation across the four northern municipalities more convenient and affordable for residents.

Yang Tsung-ming, the commissioner of New Taipei City Tourism and Travel Department, remarked that New Taipei City is planning a series of activities during the summer season. For example, the “Colorful Bitan” sketching outing is an event for the entire family, while the Hohaiyan Rock Festival and the River and Ocean Music Festival will provide music entertainment across four consecutive weeks in August.

Taoyuan City Department of Tourism Director Chou Poyin added that the opening ceremony of the 2023 Hakka Expo will take place on August 11. The 66-day-long showcase is expected to attract over a million domestic and foreign visitors to Toayuan City. For the event, the Toyuan City Government is working with over 600 tourist operators to offer various packages highlighting destinations across the municipality.

Keelung’s Tourism and City Marketing Commissioner Tsai Hui-ting remarked that the weather in Keelung during the summer and fall seasons is fairly comfortable, and the city government will hold the Keelung Tide and Bay Festival featuring flea market, DIY handicraft, and picnics. She welcomes the public to come to Keelung and enjoy the great music under the evening stars and ocean winds.
