Taipei City Government held the launch ceremony for a strategic alliance memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the globally renowned travel platform Agoda on April 16. Deputy Mayor Lin Yi-hua attended on behalf of Mayor Chiang Wan-an and joined Agoda Global Senior Vice President Andrew Smith in witnessing the occasion. The partnership will focus on four main areas: tourism data insights, digital empowerment for accommodation operators, co-branded marketing promotion, and strengthened lodging management. At the same time, the two sides launched the annual "Taipei Nice Stay" marketing program to jointly advance tourism development in Taipei City and enhance both international visitor momentum and the city's marketing reach.

Deputy Mayor Lin Yi-hua noted that in 2025, Taipei ranked 11th in the "Top 100 Cities to Visit" list published by the well-known travel website Vacations & Travel, surpassing internationally renowned cities such as Seoul, Bangkok, and Osaka. Taipei currently has more than 600 hotels, providing ample accommodation capacity to welcome travelers from around the world. Building on this foundation, the signing of the MOU with Agoda combines the data advantages of an international platform with the city's tourism resources to attract more domestic and overseas travelers. In addition to attending major events, visitors will be encouraged to extend their stays and explore Taipei more deeply. The city will also work with Agoda to create a safe, high-quality travel environment so that visitors can experience Taipei's urban charm with peace of mind.
The Department of Information and Tourism stated that the MOU covers four major areas of cooperation. By integrating the resources of both sides, the partnership will use tourism data insights to grasp international travel trends while strengthening operators' digital capabilities to drive the digital transformation of Taipei City's tourism industry. It will also tie in with the city's annual tourism events and Agoda's international promotional resources to expand overall online visibility. More importantly, the cooperation places "strengthened lodging management and consumer protection" into practice through platform mechanisms that encourage operators to display valid registration certificate information, support the removal of illegal listings, and jointly promote the concept of legal accommodation, thereby working together to combat illegal operations and safeguard travelers' lodging safety and rights through concrete action.

The Department of Information and Tourism also pointed out that Agoda's Gold Circle Awards have long been regarded as one of the key benchmarks for the global lodging industry in the international online booking market, carrying particular significance in recognizing high-quality hotels worldwide. Taiwan delivered an outstanding performance in 2025, breaking into the global top five markets for the first time and taking first place, surpassing travel destinations such as Vietnam, Japan, Thailand, and South Korea. Among them, nearly 100 accommodation operators in Taipei received awards, the highest number of any city in Taiwan, demonstrating that the quality of Taipei's accommodations has earned strong international recognition. In addition to this recognition from the Gold Circle Awards, Taipei's tourism momentum continues to rise. According to Agoda's latest data released during the Lunar New Year holiday, Taipei has ranked among the top three popular travel destinations in Asia. In addition, Taipei City's hotel market posted total revenue of more than NT$67.4 billion in 2025, while the output value of the accommodation and food service sector reached more than NT$323.7 billion, both ranking first nationwide and reflecting strong tourism consumption momentum.

The "Taipei Nice Stay" program launched this year by the Department of Information and Tourism and Agoda will roll out in phases in April, June, September, and November. The first round officially began in April, in conjunction with multiple international concerts taking place in Taipei. Travelers who book participating Taipei accommodations on the Agoda platform by April 30 and stay between April 1 and July 31 can enjoy accommodation discounts of up to 75% off. In addition to enjoying exciting concerts, visitors are also encouraged to extend their stay to experience Taipei's diverse culture, cuisine, and quality accommodations more deeply and feel the city's charm.
