2016 Travel Taipei Seminars with Author Ke-shiang Liu and Director Chi-jan Hou

In order for travellers from all corners of the world to experience the local charm of Taipei, the Department of Information and Tourism is hosting two seminars by author Ka-shiang Lu and Director Chi-jan Hou to share with travellers their personal take on travelling in Taipei in addition to the ten Recommended Tours from the 2016 Travel Taipei event. The first seminar, “Little Nature Tour in Taipei” by Ka-shiang Liu was hosted on July 2nd and attracted exciting audiences who were keen to rediscover the unique allure of Taipei.

A writer dedicated to nature, Liu recommended the “Green Fingers of Urban Farmers” tour featuring the Baishihu region of Taipei and shared the joys of staying close to nature. Liu remarks that the most captivating attraction in the “back garden of Taipei” has bound to be the Baishihu Suspension Bridge. The bridge features a straight abutment that blends with the neighbouring temples and farms, allowing visitors to feel one with the nature trails and the lakes. The recommended route starts with the Xihu Market and makes its way to the fantastical bridge in Dahu Park, then onto the Bishan Temple that looks over the whole Taipei City, then take a look at the guardian of the dragon’s den at Baishihu Suspension Bridge as well as the One-Heart Pond and finally, go fruit-picking in the Baishihu Tourism Farm.

According to Head of City Tourism Division at the Department of Information and Tourism Shi-jia Wang, the second seminar, “The Spirit of Bookstore in Taipei” by director of “Poetries from the Bookstores”, Chi-jan Hou is open for registrations. Accustomed to observing Taipei and its local bookstores, Hou has directed several popular films like “One Day” and “When Wolf Falls in Love with Sheep” and will lead visitors through the alleys of Taipei through a different perspective. Definitely do not miss out on this seminar if you are interested in discovering the hidden stories of both the bookstores and the city.

The Department of Information and Tourism is also looking for online submissions for “Call for All Personal Attractions in Taipei” and “Best One Day Taipeier Tour Routes”.
