REAL Chinese Food
I came with some friends for Chinese New Year. Yes, "Grand Hotel" is one of the most 'must visit' in Taipei. You can find several good spots inside, including some restaurants....and also this one. I enjoy it as a place to feel the Chinese taste with super nice view too. Sometimes you can see some planes arrive and departure from Songshan Airport. Enjoy the place! -

Not everyone is happy
People have high expectations of the Grand Hotel, given its exalted status in Taipei society. The Yuanyuan serves food from South China, mainly from Hangzhou and Ningbo (Zhejiang Province). The baked crispy suckling pig and honey glazed pork is delicious, the lion's head (minced pork in cabbage leaves) is not so good. People are often critical of deviations from ideal regional cuisines, but if it tastes good, eat it. -

Delicious
We ate here while staying in the Grand hotel, but would recommend it for a visit even if it is out of your way. Our favorite dishes were the shrimp with garlic, the beef with chilis and the szechuan noodles. Good wine as well (which is not always easy to find in Taiwan). -

Super food in a super traditional impressive location
Super food in a super traditional impressive building! The grand hotel is on a mountain in the city overlooking the river and Taipei! The restaurant is traditional, high end but very good food! Don’t forget to make a walk on the floors of the hotel! Impressive! -

Opulence and History - a majestic hotel in Taipei
The Grand Hotel in Taipei lives up to its name. It is like an opulent palace and has a rich history. It’s grand in scale and has a superb restaurant on the roof with breathtaking views of the city below. The food was superb. We were served course after course of delicious local dishes ranging from shrimps, fish and chicken with vegetables. Each dish was delicately flavoured and beautifully presented. An evening to remember.
