Since 2007 the Xikou Festival has been held by Songshan District Office and the local belief center Ciyou Temple together with local attractions and shopping areas. Aim is the promotion of local culture and passing on history. It is one of Songshan’s most representative arts and folk activities. In addition, Ciyou Temple each year holds the Three Offerings Ceremony to celebrate the birthday of Tian Shang Sheng Mu (Mazu) on the 23rd day of the 3rd lunar month. On the 25th and 26th day a Mazu procession around the 13 Streets area is held, sending out prayers for protection, good weather, peace, and prosperity; locals set up altar tables and ask for Mazu’s blessing and protection.
